JAMES “J.J.” JOHNSON

As Director of Business Capture, “J.J.” James Johnson joined Blue Air Training in February of 2018. His seminal experience as a USAF Combat Controller brings to Blue Air a critical perspective of what it takes to provide the best close air support (CAS) training for JTAC’s in the field.

As a 27-year veteran of the Air Force, J.J. truly lives his credo to “enjoy what you do.” A ’91 graduate of the Air Force Academy, J.J. originally hails from Buffalo, New York. After graduating the Academy, J.J. stayed true to his passion for flight and pursued a challenging career as a Combat Controller. J.J. is a graduated Squadron and Group Commander multiple times over having led the 321st Special Tactics Squadron in Mildenhall, UK, the 607th Air Support Operations Group in Osan, Korea, and the 720th Special Tactics Group in Hurlburt Field, FL. Over the course of his distinguished career, J.J. served as a Joint Staff Officer at the Pentagon and deployed multiple times to Honduras, Somalia, Iraq, and Afghanistan. Prior to joining Blue Air Training, J.J. got his feet wet in the private side of defense contracting as Vice President of Strategic Development for Rally Point Management, offering ground support-based training to JTACs.

J.J.’s patriotism and passion for service are ever-present in his work with clients and colleagues, alike. His Academy major in Human Factors engineering serves him well in his position. Rather than trying to “sell” clients on Blue Air’s services, J.J. keeps his focus on how he can add value and help others.

J.J. enjoys spending his down time with his wife and two daughters jet skiing the waters of the Florida Panhandle. His oldest daughter is starting as a Freshman at Florida State and the other as a high school junior. As a former triathlete, J.J. also enjoys continuing his physical conditioning.
